Lamai Serengeti Camp looks proudly over the plain, as it was built around huge boulders (so-called "Kopjes"). From this rocky promontory, the Kogakuria Kopje, you can see for miles. Over a million wildebeest cross these plains on their way to avoid the Mara River. It is never boring in the Lamai part of the Serengeti, which is teeming with mammals all year round. Most importantly, the beautiful Kopje is a sacred sanctuary for wildlife - and their job is to act as their loyal keepers.

PREDATOR OBSERVATIONS
This remote part of the Serengeti is cut by the famous Mara River, where once a year, between July and October, over a million wildebeest and zebras plunge across the crocodile-teeming waters to get to where the grass is greener. This makes for spectacular predator viewing in the late dry season.
WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY
What is less known about this part of the Serengeti ecosystem is the very healthy concentrations of lions, leopards and buffalo that can be seen year round. With knowledgeable guides and rugged off-road vehicles, head out into the plains to spot large mammals and take advantage of fantastic photo opportunities.
HOTSPOTS
SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
An ubiquitous experience in Tanzania's largest national park is the struggle for life and death between predatory and prey. The majestic lions reign on the great plains, while the graceful leopards stalk through the acacia tree landscapes colored orange by the dust on the Seronera River and cheetahs hunt their prey in the southeastern part of the Serengeti National Park.
NGORONGORO
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is located in northern Tanzania. Ngorongoro is close to Lake Manyara National Park. Here you can see the huge volcanic Ngorongoro crater and big game (elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo and rhinos). Huge herds of wildebeest and zebra roam the steppes during their annual migration.
KILIMANJARO
Located in the national park, Kilimanjaro, consisting of the three extinct volcanoes Kibo, Mavenzi and Schira, is the highest mountain range on the African continent and the epitome of the beauty of East Africa. At 5,895 m, it is also the highest free-standing mountain on earth. The name Kilimanjaro means something like "White Mountain".
