The people of Rwanda welcome their visitors with warm smiles and open arms. The small, landlocked, Rwanda has a lot to offer its visitors. Here you can watch the very rare mountain gorillas in the wild. Hike in the cloud forests of Volcanoes National Park and get up close and personal with these critically endangered primates. Furthermore, there is the Congo-Nile watershed in the west with Lake Kivu and the Nyungwe Forest, a cloud forest that is characterized by its special diversity of both animals and plants.
A visit to the capital Kigali is also recommended. We offer you extraordinary camps and lodges. Contact us! We would be happy to help you plan your vacation. We look forward to hearing from you!
Best travel time: June – September and January/February
This national park with five volcanoes and a large number of the last remaining mountain gorillas is located in the northwest of Rwanda. Highlights are the tropical cloud forests with magnificent vegetation. Gorilla trekking tours are offered year-round, but are best done during the dry seasons from December to March and June to September.
The Nyungwe forest lies between Butare and Lake Kivu. It is one of the largest mountain forests in Africa. In addition to the evergreen forest, mountain rivers and waterfalls run through the area. Hundreds of tree and plant species make the forest unique. The highlight of the park are the 13 different species of monkeys that can be found here.
The Karisimbi is a dormant volcano in the Virunga volcanic chain and the highest point in Rwanda. At 4507 m, the Karisimbi is the highest of the eight peaks in the mountain range that is part of the East African Rift Valley. The name Karisimbi probably comes from the word isimbi, which means “little white shell” in Kinyarwanda.
The Singita Kwitonda Lodge and the exclusively used Kataza House are located on the edge of the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, where more than a third of the world's remaining mountain gorillas live in high-altitude cloud forests. They are the perfect starting point for extraordinary gorilla treks that you will never forget. The lodge and the villa are the only places in close proximity to the natural habitat of the "gentle giants of the forest". The park headquarters where the safaris begin is less than 10 minutes away.
