PANORAMIC VIEW OF THE RUFIJI

Sand Rivers Selous Lodge feels part of the Rufiji as one side is completely open to the river. The view over its brown, swirling water is reminiscent of adventure films from another time. In fact, legendary walking safaris were pioneered here in the early days, and life in and around the lodge is still as exciting as ever.

PURE VARIETY

Some safaris can be predictable, even routine, but not with us!The Selous has got such a diverse ecology which gives guests so many opportunities to enjoy the bush like no other place. One of the holy grails of safari is to see, and not to be seen. The challenge of doing this on foot is to hide and get in a good position: rivers and floodplains fringed by vegetation are perfect cover. At some point you appear in a clearing, in a secret world. There will always be something surprising there.

BOAT SAFARI

Travel upriver by boat, avoiding the hippos; on the way back just let the current drift you back to the lodge while Africa drifts by. In remote floodplains you can see herds of elephants and glowing schools of great white pelicans. Back on the river banks, a shallow tiger fishing spot is a great option.

SERENGETI
NATIONAL PARK

An ubiquitous experience in Tanzania's largest national park is the struggle for life and death between predatory and prey. The majestic lions reign on the great plains, while the graceful leopards stalk through the acacia tree landscapes colored orange by the dust on the Seronera River and cheetahs hunt their prey in the southeastern part of the Serengeti National Park.

NGORONGORO

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is located in northern Tanzania. Ngorongoro is close to Lake Manyara National Park. Here you can see the huge volcanic Ngorongoro crater and big game (elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo and rhinos). Huge herds of wildebeest and zebra roam the steppes during their annual migration.

Located in the national park, Kilimanjaro, consisting of the three extinct volcanoes Kibo, Mavenzi and Schira, is the highest mountain range on the African continent and the epitome of the beauty of East Africa. At 5,895 m, it is also the highest free-standing mountain on earth. The name Kilimanjaro means something like "White Mountain".
