LION PACK
The Liuwa Plains is an area rich in history. One of the favorites is the Legend of Mambeti and Lady Liuwa. Mambeti, a member of the Lozi, and was buried near the camp. Legend has it that she was reborn into Lady Liuwa, the matriarch of Liuwa's pride of lions. Locals believe this explains why the famous lioness was receptive to humans and spent so much time in the same forest areas once visited by the elderly Mambeti. After 17 years and a rich life, Lady Liuwa passed away in 2017.
